A gluten free cracker like no other

My review of Mary’s Organic Crackers

Mary’s Organic Crackers — onion flavour — are my new favourite cracker (http://www.marysorganiccrackers.com/your-products/crackers/onion-crackers)

First let me start by saying, I’ve been a bit delinquent on my blog. And no, it’s not because I ran away screaming from my last post (a solemn vow to eat more salads). Life got really busy all of a sudden, and it looks like the past three weeks may have just set the tone for the rest of the summer. I often thought about my blog and all the other glorious blogs I was not reading, and finally decided enough is enough — I’m just going to sit myself down and write dammit. In the *shamefully admits* roughly-just-under-three weeks I was MIA, I did regularly update a list in my phone of things to blog about. So, a lot’s coming and I’m looking forward to it.

And, after roughly three weeks of not posting, I decided my big comeback post would be about…CRACKERS. But wait, folks, these gluten free crackers are so good they are in a class all on their own.

My experience with gluten free crackers has been limited. The Glutino ones taste great, but I can’t really get past the price and all that extra packaging inside the box; two individual bags of crackers inside a cardboard box means you, A) get less crackers, and B) pay for, what? More packaging?

I’ve actually been opting for plain ol’ rice crackers. They don’t have gluten, they are a fraction of the price of the Glutino ones, you get a ton more in the box, and they taste great. Thing is, they are a bit on the salty side, so I make sure I don’t have them as a staple in my home.

My mom’s friend introduced her to Mary’s Organic Crackers, and she, in turn, showed them to me. They are incredible: flavourful, crispy, and incredibly hearty. They don’t have a flaky, wafer-feel like other crackers; instead they are firmer, more sturdy. The best thing about these? They are chalk-full of sesame and flax seeds, and they have a subtle nutty flavor that’s right up my ally.

So buy these. They are delicious and come in different flavours (but I’ll admit I’ve only tried the onion ones).

Till next time…it’s good to be back 🙂

  1. I love the crunch of Mary’s crackers (and the name, ha) but they are too seedy for my kid and husband. Maybe when she’s older! Cheddar Nut Thins are hugely popular here but so salty and addictive.

Random thought about Glutino pkging – I could be totally wrong but I always assumed there were 2 small pkgs because GF crackers go stale like five minutes after opening.

    • Hmm, perhaps…but then Mary’s would be too…? I actually just tried Mary’s herb crackers last night — I think I might like them more than the onion ones lol.
